Warning: Here be dragons. It works for me and makes some assumptions about the naming/structure about my project. Feel free to fork and make more generic/configurable.

== Installation
Copy BakedChildCombiner.cs into Assets/Editor/Plugins (make the directories if needed).

== Usage
* Fire up the Baking window (Cmd-Shift-M [Mac], Control-Shift-M [Windows] or Window->BackedChildCombiner)
* Click on the object you wish to in your scene
* Click bake children
