Applying Markups to Prices

This page covers the detailed workflow for setting variation prices with markups applied.

Setting Regular Prices

Use the Set regular price bulk action on the Variations tab to apply markups to your product variations.

  1. Edit your variable product
  2. Go to the Variations tab
  3. From the bulk actions dropdown, select Set regular price
  4. Enter your base price
  5. Click Go

Markup-by-Attribute will:

  • Apply markups to each variation based on its attribute terms
  • Add a price breakdown to the variation description
Product Price 18.95
Add 2.00 for Logo

TIP: Always set the regular price before setting a sale price. Percentage markups are calculated on the regular price.

Setting Sale Prices

Use the Set sale price bulk action the same way. The sale price will have markups applied based on the regular price calculation.

NOTE: By default, percentage markups are calculated on the regular price, not the sale price. You can change this behavior in Settings.

Base Price on the General Tab

After setting prices, the General tab displays read-only Base Price fields showing the prices before markups were applied.

  • Regular base price - The base price you entered for regular pricing
  • Sale base price - The base price you entered for sale pricing (if set)

These fields are read-only. To change base prices, use the bulk actions on the Variations tab.

Base Price Column on All Products

The All Products page includes a Base Price column for variable products, showing the base regular price (and sale price if set).

This makes it easy to see at a glance what your base prices are across products.

Tips

  • If you've already set prices before installing Markup-by-Attribute, you'll need to set them again to apply markups.
  • If you change a markup value later, see Reapplying Markups to update existing products.
  • The price breakdown in the variation description can be styled with CSS. See Usage (Advanced).
