Versions

ConEmu build: 170402 64
OS version: Windows 10 x64 Professional, Creators Update
Used shell version (Far Manager, git-bash, cmd, powershell, cygwin, whatever): %windir%\system32\bash.exe -cur_console:pm:/mnt

Problem description

Exception 0xC0000005 (DEP x000001DAF8A3F1C0) was occurred (ConEmu64.exe, PID=33436)
ConEmu build 170402 64

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Windows Creator's Update
  2. Enable Developer Tools
  3. Enable Linux Bash for Windows
  4. Run bash to download Ubuntu
  5. Launch ConEmu
  6. Choose 'Add default tasks' in the setup menu. ConEmu will add a {Bash::bash} entry with %windir%\system32\bash.exe -cur_console:pm:/mnt
  7. Launch it.

Actual results

The tab opens and you get the Linux prompt. After about 0.5 seconds, a pop-up appears with:

Exception 0xC0000005 (DEP  x000001A5D8C1F690) was occurred (ConEmu64.exe, PID=31976)
ConEmu build 170402 64

Expected results

That it works.

Same as gh-1012. I see third-pary module injected in ConEmu64.exe.

C:\Program Files\N-able Technologies\AVDefender\Signatures\AVC\AVC3_00551_008\avcuf64.dll

And crazy stack rising the crash (simple RegQueryValueEx call)

 	000001a5d8c1f690()	Unknown
 	advapi32.dll!PerflibciInsertRedBlackNode()	Unknown
 	advapi32.dll!SaferpLogResultsToFile()	Unknown
 	advapi32.dll!PerflibciBuildCounterSet()	Unknown

 	advapi32.dll!PerflibciEnsureCounterSetList()	Unknown
 	advapi32.dll!PerflibciEnsurePerflibV2StringTable()	Unknown
 	advapi32.dll!PerfGetNames()	Unknown
 	advapi32.dll!__guard_ss_verify_sp_default()	Unknown
 	KERNELBASE.dll!LocalBaseRegQueryValue()	Unknown
 	KERNELBASE.dll!RegQueryValueExW()	Unknown
 	ConEmu64.exe!CProcessData::LoadPerfData() Line 326	C++

I think you should test the problem without AVDefender and complain to "N-able Technologies" (I believe the problem will go away).

gh-1012, gh-1121: Dirty workaround for AVDefender/Bitdefender bug rai…
…sing a crash in the RegQueryValueEx.

  Warning! ConEmu physically can't fix 3rd-paty bugs!
  This commit just skips process bitness detection if we already may be sure about it.

  But the bug/crash may appear in some other situations,
  so it's better to report the problem to the authors.
