segfault on path autocompletion

tested on mc-4.7.3 on gnome-terminal and lxterminal.

steps to reproduce:

1 - start mc
2 - on the command line type for instance:

"cd /etc/var/l"

3 - press autocomplete (esc+tab). the autocomplete dialog pops up with the available options.
4 - press "o" to restrict the options to "/etc/var/lo"
5 - mc segfaults

this happens also when using path autocompletion from the dialogs (e.g. when copying or moving files)
