Moin...habe gestern mal ein paar Vids zum neuen FS geschaut...scheint ja diesmal wirklich einen Sprung nach vorne zu machen in SAchen Simulation (cab and seat suspension, hydraulics, dashboard-light etcetcetc)..., deshalb die schuechterne Frage ob wir mit deiner Gearbox zum 19er rechnen koennen, ob du dir das nochmal "antust"?... :)

Hi,
I do not know yet. If FS19 has a simple gearbox then for many there is no need for a complicated one. So I fear that there are only few people who really desire a mod with a more complicated gearbox.

hi, well, lets see what happens....but don´t undervalue your gearbox, although ther might be a simple gearbox i think many people prefer a "real" gearbox....

Personally, the main factor that drew me to this mod is the ability to easily customize any and all vehicles as I see fit.

While a transmission with actual gears would be nice in the base game, it's generally quite difficult to change the settings without third-party mods.

I tend to be nitpicky >.>

Your mod moved me from fs15 to fs17. Without your mod, the key element was missing for me - a simulated realism for power & speed. Now the combination of MR and your Gb is almost the holy grail.

If there is a way to support you (patreon etc) I would love to do that, as I barely can understand the config XMLs nor write code.

Please please please try to make the fs19 a project of yours

I only discovered your mod after years of reminiscing of the days in LS2011 when there were a few mods with fully simulated gearboxes, it has really brought me back into the game, it is by far the most important mod I have installed now, I hope that you continue development of the GearBox addon into FS19. As @reinholdmaehler suggested, I am also willing to support the development of a future GearBox addon. Thank you for all of your hard work.

Hi,
Let's 1st see what kind of transmission will be available in the vanilla FS19. Afterwards let's wait for the scripting docu. I know already that there are several changes and old scripts will not run w/o adjustments. But more important, GearboxAddon has its own VehicleMotor implementation.

considering games have had basic multi-speed transmission coding since at least Grand Theft Auto 3, you'd thing such a feature would be child's play after 15 years.

Nachdem nun klar ist, dass kein Gearbox und nicht einmal eine einfache Wendeschaltung im LS19 enthalten ist, würde ich mich sehr freuen, wenn der Mod seinen Weg in das Spiel findet. Ich denke mal du würdest vielen Leuten damit einen großen Gefallen tun und eins ist sicher: ich möchte Gearbox nicht mehr missen. Das originale Fahrverhalten ist einfach große Grütze, wenn man LS17 mit Gearbox und MR gewöhnt ist.

Hi,
After a quick check of FS19 it is clear that I cannot adopt the FS17 gearbox to FS19 without the source code of VehicleMotor.lua, Motorized.lua and Vehicle.lua.
Additionally, the names of the standard functions and attributes changed; e.g. self.spec_motorized.motor instead of self.motor.
In the past it took Giants more than 6 month to publish the scripts.

for Keyboardsteering there is also necessary lua-doc, right? the "new smoother" steering has nothing to do with your adaptive steering.... :(

Ich stimme absolut zu! Ich habe nicht wirklich gerne zwischen LS17 + Gearbox + MR und LS19 "Vanille" gewechselt.

(I totally agree! I didn't like so much switching from FS17 + Gearbox + MR to the "vanilla" FS19.)

I have so much respect for you Stefan,like other people said before FS 19 feels like shit without your phenomenal gearbox.Driving physics is so stupid,tractor accelerate like a formula one,and that so bad that is almost unplayable for me and many more other people.I just wish that giants would post that scripts that you need and you continue make the improvements of this great mod.
I wish you all the best.
BTW i drive tractors in real life LOL,and that's why is this even more frustrating for me.

Just to pick up an argument from top:

Might be that the amount of people really using your gearbox mod is not too high, but i guess those who do apreciate your work. I had a look for 19 and now i'm back to 17 again cause it's just no fun without the feeling of the engine barking while shifting gears uphill ;)

Not to hurry you, but to proof the point of worth. Thank you for the time you put in your mods, not only gearbox but also steering and helper mod. The new Vanilla game shows dramatically how much your mods change the game. ;)

Hi,

I just had a quick look at LUADOC. One problem is that there are many new built in function like controlVehicle. The second problem is that Motorized.updateMotorProperties is not documented.

As a consequence there will not be a FS19_GearboxAddon.

bad news. Horrible news indeed. Gearbox addon was a huge improvement for the realism of the game and we will hugely miss these functionalities.
Should Giants document the updateMotorProperties function, will you reconsider to develop it? (at least a limited yet functional version)
Is there any way we may contribute?

If there is a way to set up the base mod and then have the community build the transmission, im sure people would be into that. Crowd source so mogli doesn't have to do it all.

As a simulation player this mod was key to my immersion.

No, I stopped the conversion of gearbox addon. Problem number one is that this script has a lot of user interactions. But Giants reworked input and action bindings, and this means that gearbox addon has to be re-built from scratch. Problem two is that there are already mods out that manipulate the differentials etc. So there will be again an overlap and incompatibility issues with other mods. I made some experiences in the past with drive control and better fuel usage. So I decided not to continue on gearbox addon.

wirklich superschade...ohne GB und korrektes behaviour macht das absolut keinen Spass....

Das 2.Problem ist eigentlich keins...dieses inhanced "wasweissich" beinhaltet doch anscheinden nur die Differenziale, oder? Was soll der mod, wenn es GB geben wuerde. Drivecontrol wird es ebenso nicht geben und die diversen modder sollten sich mal daran gewoehnen, ihre mods an GB anzupassen, und nicht andersrum...also das ist wohl eher nicht das Problem....zum ersteren, konnte dir Stegei nicht bei einer Loesung helfen, oder habt ihr euch nicht austauschen koennen?

jo...das ist aber irgendwo eine Grundsatzfrage...das ehrt dich, dass du versuchst , deine mods mit anderen kompatibel spielbar zu machen, aber auf der anderen Seite, was sollst DU (und nicht der andere "modder") Zeit und arbeit investieren, DEINE mods kompatibel zu machen?

uebrigens hab ich den diff-mod gerade mal gesehen, in der Beschreibung auf modhoster sieht das ja so aus, dass er versucht den mod kompatibel mit keyboardsteer zu machen....und das ist der richtige Weg!

Ich finde auch wenn dann solltest du auf deinen Mod schauen und wenn der läuft ok, wenn jemand zig andere Mods nutzt, die dann Probleme machen und dazwischenfunken muss jeder für sich selber festlegen, welchen er nutzt oder nicht. Wenn es GB gäbe wären all die anderen Mods überflüssig, schade zu hören, das du nicht an GB arbeitest. Ich habe gehofft er kommt irgendwann für den 19er, weil Vanilla fahren ist für'n Arxxxx. So macht es echt keinen Spaß, ich vermisse ihn.

Wenn ich es drauf hätte würde ich dir gerne unter die Arme greifen, habe ich leider nicht. Aber vllt findet sich jemand anders der dir helfen könnte, oder vllt kommt auch die Lust an GB zurück, wenn vllt auch mehr Script Doku vorhanden ist.

Wirklich schade aber das ist dein Ding, deine Arbeit, deine Freizeit, man muss es akzeptieren. Dennoch vielen Dank für GB im LS17 !!!

Hallo Mogli.
Mit Tränen in den Augen lese ich das Du die Arbeit am GeraBox Addon einstellen möchtest.
Ich denke Du weißt wie viele Deine Mod lieben und für mich und sicher sehr viele andere ist ein LS19 ohne GearBox, im Hinblick auf die miesen Sounds, schlicht undenkbar.
Jetzt Frage ich mich ob Du es Dir vorstellen könntest es für Uns zu tun und dafür ordentlich bezahlt werden würdest.
Ich zum Beispiel könnte mir durchaus vorstellen 40-50€ dafür zu zahlen. Ich bin mir sicher das es vielen so geht. Denn wem nutzt ein LS19 wenn man ihn nicht spielen mag, weil ein Baustein fehlt der so unglaublich genial ist, das man nicht mehr drauf verzichten mag.
Ich wollte das erstmal generell abfragen, würde mich freuen wenn du dir mal Gedanken darüber machen würdest. Sag mir einfach unter welchen Bedingungen Du Dir das vorstellen könntest.
Selbst im vorraus würde ich dies tun.
Man könnte dann auch mal ne Umfrage starten, damit Du ungefähr n Plan hast, wann du deine Haupt Arbeit kündigen kannst weil Du nicht mehr weißt wohin mit der Kohle:)- kleiner scherz.

Hi Stefan...Keyboardsteer ist zwar schon im modhub, aber wenn du wirklcih ernst machst, dass du von der GB nichts mehr wissen willst, koenntest du dann im Keyboardsteer die 3 TEmpomatstufen implementieren? oder ist das zuviel Aufwand...habe ich wirklich gerne in der GB genutzt..

I added a very simple gearbox to keyboardSteer. It is not realistic but I think it feels good. This should be some kind of farewell present.

Right now I think that FS19 will never be as realistic as FS17 is with Seasons, moreRealistic, contractorMod, hoseSystem, manualAttaching and gearboxAddon. This is at the end the point that makes is somehow frustrating for me. If I would do my very best to convert gearboxAddon than it could reach 90% of the realism of gearboxAddon in FS17. But 10% will be missing. And without moreRealistic and the tractors still feel like race cars. They do not feel heavy and strong. Instead they feel very light and with limited power.

da mir der Fs19 ohne GB , seasons und die bga extension kein Spaß bereitet habe ich ihn noch gar nicht gezockt.
Ich finde es auch sehr schade das der GB nicht mehr für den fs19 kommt.
Kann dich bezüglich deiner Entscheidung aber sehr gut verstehen.

Ich hoffe sehr das du dich bei cattle and crops mit der GB richtig austoben kannst.
Den du warst einer der Gründe warum ich das Spiel unterstützt habe.

Soweit ich weiß ist in CnC es nicht vorgesehen, das Spiel mit Scripten zu erweitern. Und das Getriebe, welches ich bislang gesehen habe, passte mir zu wenig zum MB Trac.

die Frage habe ich mir auch schon gestellt. Du bist mir hier mit zuvor gekommen :-).
Ich würde tippen das der GB Spezialist nicht bei CNC an board ist.
Mich würde es aber sehr freuen wenn er an board wäre.
Den hiermit wäre ein geniales und reales Getriebe geboten.
Wenn er nicht an board ist hoffe ich das sie einen fähigen GB Mitarbeiter haben.

Please consider the help/assistance from @joskuijpers. He is the code-wizards behind the Seasons mod and worked his magic to even bring it to consoles. And because he's working for GIANTS now he's probably the one who can help you solve some mysteries behind all the changes behind the FS19-scenes.

Still, it can not be said enough but your mods are outstanding and very much appreciated among the community. We would love to see them coming to FS19 and are willing to wait patiently.

Hi @joskuijpers,

Thanks for the offer. I decided to make a much easier gearbox simulation as part of FS19_KeyboardSteer. Maybe I should rename this mod now. This simplified gearbox has only 12 real gears. In the 4x4 configuration the same gears might appear in two different groups.

Converting GearboxAddon would mean a lot of work. I am not sure if it was a good idea to manipulate the shop items to add the transmission configuration. That cause several problems between client and server. So the question is how to load and assign gearbox configurations to particular vehicles. This would already result into a complete re-implementation of gearboxMogli:initFromXml (2370 lines of code).

Once this is solved the next thing is the re-implementation of user inputs lines 3921-4498. Most parts of gearboxMogliMotor.lua are not usable anymore because the handling of torque curve etc. is done directly inside of the engine (controlVehicle). The same for the manipulation of sound.

And finally, I do not believe that a converted GearboxAddon in FS19 would like like the FS17 version. I even assume that 80% of the people using GearboxAddon in FS17 do not really know what kind of realism I tried to achieve with GearboxAddon. I exchanged the torque curves because 99% of the vehicles use the standard torque curve. But having more maximum power than rated power is quite new. Even the Deutz Agrostart 6.61 did not have that. I calculated the fuel consumption based on usedTorque and specific fuel consumption in g/kWh. I looked up gear ratios and so on.

For the transmission in FS19_KeyboardSteer I really concentrated on building a generic gearbox for FS19. So I adjusted the gear ratios to the typical speeds in FS19. These are not really realistic so why should one have realistic gear ratios but than driving at 10 km/h with a 6m cultivator instead of 8 km/h with a 3m cultivator IRL? The transmission in FS19_KeyboardSteer uses not even 10% of the code of GearboxAddon and I implemented it mainly over the last weekend.

But nevertheless, thanks for the offer. I still feel the time for GearboxAddon is over.

Hi, Mogli. Vor erst vielen, vielen dank für Deine Arbeit am GB. Mit dem 19 ist einem klar, wie gross der unterschied mit und ohne Dein GB ist. Ich will mich zu den Leuten zuteilen, die versuchen Dich zu überreden, um mit dem GB weiter zu machen. Wegen der ganzen Realität Mods habe ich gleich zwei Komputer mit komplettem Setup gebaut, also Lenkrad, Schalthebel, weitere drei Controller… um ein, eigentlich zwei Cockpits zu bauen, in denen mann nach der Arbeit richtig ausschalten kann. Da spielt nun meine Frau mit (wir sind u40), aber dein GB ist halt ein notiges teiel der sehr fehlt. Ohne macht es kein sinn.
Wie ich es so sehe sind die Realität Fanatiker nich so oft vertreten aber um so mehr eingebunden und dankbar für so spitze Mods wie Deins. Es ärgert einen schon gewaltig ,das Giant selbst, der Arkade ein Simulator name gibt. Aber um objektiv zu bleiben ist der 19er was Grafik, Grund Physik und vieles weiteres, schon das Beste Grund spiel in der reihe. Also an Season wird meine Information nach, fleißig gearbeitet, sollte sogar besser sein als in den 17er. Dann werde noch der Ersatz des MR mod übrig. Das werd aber am wenigsten fehlen denn den kann mann teilweisse selber nachmachen. Ich habe nun auch versuche gemacht, mit Änderungen im XML mit Gewicht, Gewicht Verteilung, Springs stärke, Federwege wie auch die Reibungs werte der reifen. Und mir kommt es schon for, das es sich sehr änlich verhält wie in 17er mit MR… Teilweisse sogar besser, da sich die Reifen jetzt durch die andere collision besser verhalten. Natürlich fehlen noch werte wie Trägheit, Luft Widerstand… aber damit kann mann bei den Traktoren mit 40 Sachen schon leben. Die Seasons kommen hoffentlich mit groseren unterschieden der Reibung werten für das Boden bei Schnee, nässe… Damit sind wir schon sehr nah an dem 17er. Wie einiger schon gesagt haben, muss Du nicht alles alleine machen. Sollte, wegen gebrauch Zusatz daten nötig sein, neue separate XML Dateien herzustellen (das mann zum Beispiel die masse, reibungswerte…eintragen muss), nach dem Beispiel des MR mod. Bin ich voll bereit die Herstellung der XML. Dateien zu übernehmen um Dir Teil der Arbeit abzunehmen.

Also noch mal vielen dank für die bisherige Arbeit und hoffentlich positive Entscheidung, um mit dem wunderbaren GB mod weiter zu machen. Solltest DU an meine Hilfe interessiert, einfach hier eine Nachricht hinterlassen und ich melde mich dann.

I totally agree with @Sozzy76. And although I think GIANTS is aware of these special mods, which is why I think @joskuijpers is participating in this thread.

I would have hoped GIANTS put together some kind of co-development-program with the creators of these highly sophisticated game changing mods. (MR/GPS/CoursePlay/HoseSystem/ProSeed/SoilMod/...)

I know they provide the ModHub and modders get small rewards for their work but I mean besides that a more comprehensive collaboration with detailed agreements. In that way these top notch modders are more motivated to keep up their excellent work. And because it's a co-develop agreement they would get early insights in radical upcoming code changes so they can smoothly transition their work to keep it compatible with future versions and not get so frustrated when they are confronted with it.

And also more importantly in this way these modders could share a little in the revenue of the franchise they keep interesting. (more or less like how Mattxjs got compensated for his Modern Classics DLC) And in the end if GIANTS decides to incorporate the entire mod they get a bonus or something. Think of it as a strategy between directly hiring modders (Stefan Maurus / Jos Kuipers / ...) and the current ModHub program.

So. GIANTS (Lars?) are you listening?
