Welcome to the Grid Garage Wiki and User Guide!

The OEH ArcGIS Grid Garage Toolbox (Grid Garage) is an ArcGIS toolbox with 36 tools to help manage and manipulate spatial data. It automates repetitive and time-consuming GIS processing tasks, saving time and money. Developed by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage the tools are especially useful for GIS-users who manage and manipulate large amounts of spatial data including:

  • Vector data, such as polygon data, and
  • Raster data, such as digital elevation models, satellite imagery and climate data.

Grid Garage has been developed to standardise data inputs used in spatial modelling tools such as those used to study the impact of climate change, and the Multi-criteria Analysis Shell for Decision Support (MCAS-S) tool. The tools can be used as stand alone or in combination using ArcGIS ModelBuilder.

The Grid Garage tools are written in Python programming language and tested in ArcGIS versions 10.4.0 and 10.4.1 for Desktop, you will also need to have the ArcGIS 'Spatial Analyst' extension turned on in ArcMap or ArcCatalog 'Customise > Extensions..' for many of the tools to work. The tools may not work in older versions i.e. pre-10.1.
