Timeline is not loading in Chrome or Internet Explorer #306

The timeline views perfectly in firefox, it looks great - so thank you for your work on this project so far...

Unfortunately, we have found that the timeline doesn't load in Chrome or Internet Explorer. The page is either blank or has the message "Waiting for Google Docs Data..." "Still waiting for Google Docs...".

The number of lines are less than 100 (35 lines) and has no blanks.
We have manage to override some styling our side. Are there any fixes we can implement our end for this?

Is this issue being looked into?

Thanks
Amanda

Amanda,

The problem I believe is with the Story-JS loader. It does a check to see if all the files and ready and loaded (css, languages, timelineJS.js, etc) before it begins.

Problem is it will only check 40 times before it quits. Many times this is not long enough if you have a slower connection or your server is taking awhile to respond.

To resolve this issue I removed the additional checks in the Story-JS reloader
File: Story-JS-Core/Embed/Embed.js
Line: 284
Change: if (ready.js && ready.css && ready.font.css && ready.font.js && ready.language) {
To: if (ready.js) {

If you're using the compiled wordpress plugin and need to change storyis-embed.js then search for N() and scroll back a little and you'll see:

if(l.js&&l.css&&l.font.css&&l.font.js&&l.language)

simply change that too

if(l.js)

That should do it.
