Like in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee728598(VS.100).aspx#Y640, the ability to tell the hoster that the controller isn't done yet, but will be resumed later again, Something like the Asyncmanagers in the article. One could use this to make long(ish) calls not block a whole thread for a long time.

I spiked out the syntax for async routes a while ago, but I'm not sure whether it will make it into 1.0 or not.

Count me as interested in this as well. Would love to see discussion on the list.

would be really great if this could go in 1.0, lots of hosts already support this, (asp.net has since 2.0 with async http handlers, kayak can, http listern can)

Sadly, that's the only reason why I have to stay away from Nancy. Haven't had a project without async actions!

Same here; something like this could put nancy on the map as the way to do nodejs alike things on .NET.

@carlokok I'm glad you think Nancy isn't already "on the map" ;-)

@grumpydev: "the way to do nodejs alike things on .NET" <<< on the map as that. I like how Nancy works and know several that use it. Nancy is on the map already as it's way better than standard ASP.NET.

+1? This isn't bloody facebook 👍

The first step in this is unifying our hosting on top of OWIN. Tthere won't be any noticeable change to the end users, but it will give us a model "at the bottom" which async can then be built on top of.

If you have concrete use cases for async (the main/only one currently is a service that calls multiple other external services), then feel free to chip in on the discussion thread: https://groups.google.com/d/topic/nancy-web-framework/lxug2_SO2jg/discussion
