This is a session specifically made so that we don't use a TransformRef. This allows multiple copies of RPCMapTransform to be created for each thread (w/ TransformRef a single copy would be hidden behind a shared ptr). These multiple copies thus allow RPCMapTransform to cache its DEM usage ... and thus Triangulation happens faster.
This a session specifically for satellites that are modelled by pinhole camera models but look straight down at earth from an orbit.
This software was used only for one project, the mapping of Marscape via the RMAX helicopter. Neither the RMAX hardware or Marscape exist anymore. We still have the dataset file ... but if anyone was interested, it could be processed with our generic PinholeSession.
We use some features of GDAL that we don't acquire through VW. This requires us to list GDAL directly as a dependency on Ubuntu 12.04. No free lunches on dependences.
