# FAQ **My crop is not growing. Why?** Right-click it (shift) for a diagnostic readout showing the blocked reason — usually a closed progression gate, the wrong grow-bed tier, low light, a hostile environment needing a [greenhouse](Greenhouse-Construction.md), or a powered bed out of NF/nutrient. See [Growth Conditions](Growth-Conditions.md). **Do I need a greenhouse?** Only when the world is hostile (Nether, End, terraformable regions) or the crop's tier is at/above the configured controlled-environment threshold. Earth-tier crops grow in the open on a safe world. **How do I get alien seeds?** Discover them at the [Seed Research Bench](Seed-Research.md). Natural alien strains are found/discovered, not synthesized; researched derived strains can be fabricated. See [Alien Crops](Alien-Crops.md). **How do genetics spread?** Genetics travel with seeds and crops. Adjacent mature crops with a breeding match can [pollinate](Pollination.md) and drop a child seed; the [Genetics Station](Genetics.md) splices and upgrades traits. All traits are capped (0–5 each, total 15). **Is biofuel better than a real generator?** No — it is a renewable baseload kept **below** an equivalent primary generator's ceiling by config, so it supplements power without replacing dedicated generation. See [Biofuel](Biofuel-and-Essence-Blocks.md). **Does terraforming change my world blocks?** No. It only makes a bounded region habitable in Agriculture's environment model, and rolls back cleanly — it never edits blocks or a planetary atmosphere.
