When using git from nixpkg on OS X I get the following error when git pulling on a repo with an HTTPS remote:

 % git pull
fatal: unable to access 'https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/': SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate

If I use the git binary that ships with the developer tools, no such error occurs.

I ran into this same issue. One fix is to set GIT_SSL_CAINFO=/etc/ssl/certs/ca-bundle.crt (but wherever the cert bundle actually lives on Macs).

Advice from the developers on the "correct" way to solve this problem would be nice (if there is one, or just environment variables forever).

This appears to be fixed in master without needing any workarounds.
