This is an enhancement release for PuTTY CAC 0.70 that is based on the upstream PuTTY 0.70 code. This release was compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2017. Thanks to @lars18th and @bluikko for their various enhancement ideas, feedback, and testing efforts related to this release.
- Added new option in Pageant to prompt the user when a certificate is used in a signing operation. This operation can be turned on using the new 'Cert Auth Prompting' option in the system tray menu for Pageant. The reason for this enhancement is to prevent a rogue user application from acquiring credential data from Pageant without knowledge of the user.
- Added -certauthprompting and -certauthpromptingoff command line options to Pageant to automatically set/unset the 'Cert Auth Prompting' behavior.
The certificate used to sign PuTTY CAC binaries had to be recreated since the certification authority does not support renewal of open source code signing certificates. As a result, you may receive a false positive security messages when attempting to execute / install the files listed below. You may have to right-click on each downloaded file, go to properties, and choose to 'unblock' each file. This is caused by Windows adding some hidden tags directly on the files that that inform Windows that the files originated from the internet. Once the Windows SmartScreen reputation system recognizes the files as trustworthy, these messages should stop.
