Sandro has provided the following feedback via email:

Speaking of which, it would be nice to add some free places in the "find us" section at the bottom-right corner of those pages, right now listing facebook, linkedin and twitter accounts.

How about adding a link to the Matrix room #osgeo:matrix.org for a start http://matrix.to/#/#osgeo:matrix.org

Even better to also have presence on one node in the so-called "fediverse" (Mastodon, GNUSocial, Diaspora and friends...) but that requires more than just a link...

I believe that these are other social networks

For reference, the technologies I mentioned as part of the "fediverse" are free software projects that you can deploy to setup a node of a decentralized "social network". These are:

Twitter-like (all public, short messages):

Facebook-like (optionally private, longer messages):

For each of those project some open nodes (allowing everyone to register) exist, but of course it is recommended to run your own node, to reduce the centralization effect (thus the comment about requiring more work).

@strk Can I ask if this feedback is when editing projects? Or everything (projects, service providers, geoforall labs, ....).

The project template seems the most complete and let's us add multiple items, choosing from a list.

It was for the website. Now I cannot find the link to the alpha website (may be worth adding it to the README.md file in this repository). I don't remember having seen a field in the projects template for "social" presence. BTW, weren't there a proposal to gather those information with an XML file to be published on the project's web page ?

Is this resolved? I know additional icons were added as options during the code sprint

It looks like all icons were removed, or I cannot find the page anymore, can you ? Closest I got to is http://osgeo.getinteractive.nl/community/communications/ -- this ticket can be closed

Can this be closed now?

Sure, but I don't have the privileges to do so.

Okay the find us section is at the bottom of each page, if osgeo has a presence on any additional networks can you let us know?

Let's connect:

You can also consider the project specific pages:

We would need an example of a project that is using one of these social networks you listed.

@cvvergara with twitter rebranding and many of our projects setting up mastodon accounts we should look at how to provide more options/icons.

It would be great if the mastodon social media link could meet the requirements for profile verification::
