The suggestion I have is to have a battle tower in which newer players that are too intimidated to fight gym leaders and help build up players into the competitive scene. In doing so we can have a tower of NPC's in which the player is then timed and forced to fight their way up and score a low time to be shown on the leaderboard. By doing this we can encourage players in giving rewards for being the fastest time weekly or monthly. In the hopes to give players confidence to fight the gym leaders later on.
In regards to the players adjusting their teams to beat the tower the NPC's can be changed every term of leaderboard weekly/monthly rewards to make sure a strategy prevents players from climbing to the top too quickly or breezing by it. In the hopes to be the tower champion of the week or month, depending which time period is chosen to be used, and will be shown as the best time of the past week to create competition in the community.
I found inspiration in which I took out my old Gameboy advance to play Pokémon Fire Red and found the battle tower there in which you fight 3 battles each floor of a total of 8 floors with each trainer having 3 pokemon on every floor. Hopefully this can be something unique and awesome as I enjoyed battle tower for years.

I personally love this idea. One perk to it is that it could also raise the players skill level, which could also raise the amount of challengers gyms get. As well as giving people yet another activity to do.
