The reasons to make their support:

  • to facilitate porting code from C/Pascal to Oberon;
  • to have faster division and remainder operations that implemented through a single CPU command. It also makes sense for architectures where they are implemented programmatically;
  • to provide for traditional programmers a bridge to Oberon;
  • to improve compatibility with GPCP.
