Call for Proposals: OpenChain Devroom at FOSDEM, February 6th - 7th 2021

About OpenChain

The OpenChain Project maintains the International Standard for open source license compliance. This allows companies of all sizes and in all sectors to adopt the key requirements of a quality open source compliance program. This is an open standard and all parties are welcome to engage with our community, to share their knowledge, and to contribute to the future of our standard.

We are interested in all kinds of presentations about OpenChain-related topics using Free and Open Source software. Some topics, which are of interest are:

  • Experience with OpenChain
  • Learnings and finding during the path to achieve OpenChain conformance
  • Case studies
  • Open Source tooling for Open Source compliance processes
  • Approaches to ensure container image compliance
  • Automation of Open Source compliance processes including creation of necessary artefacts to fulfil license obligations
  • Sharing Open Source compliance artefacts

Dates and Deadlines

  • Submission deadline: Tuesday December 22th, 2020
  • Selected talks announced by Thursday December 31st, 2020
  • Talk video submission is Sunday January 17th, 2021
  • Talk video validation is Sunday January 24th, 2021
  • Conference date is 6th and 7th February 2021 all online (CET)


Talks will be pre-recorded in advance, and streamed during the event. Therefore please take notice of the video submission deadline. Please make sure you will have the facilities (camera, microphone, network).

How to apply for a talk

All submissions must be made through FOSDEM pentabarf website. Please select OpenChain when submitting:

If you not not have a Pentabarf account yet, you need to create an account first.

Click on "Create Event" in the menu and use that form to submit your proposal. Make sure to select the "OpenChain devroom" as track, or we will not be able to consider it.

Please make sure to include the following items:

  • Title and subtitle of your talk
  • Learning outcome(s) or key takeaways
  • 5 lines abstract of your presentation
  • Relevant links to websites, blogs, documentation, and other resources

FOSDEM is a free, volunter-led and non-commercial event organized by the community for the community. The event in normally hosted at the Free University of Brussels, Belgium. This year it will be held on-line for the first time at the dates of 6th and 7th of February 2021. Participation and attendance is free of charge. Please note that as in previous years the event can be supported with donations and sponsorship. Although there is no registration, attendees are expected to follow FOSDEM's code of conduct.

The goal is to provide free and open source software developers and communities a place to meet. It helps to get in touch with other developers and projects. It is an opportunity to be informed about the latest developments in the free and open source software world.

Attendees can see interesting talks and presentations on various topics by project leaders and committers; Last but not least, this event helps promoting the development and benefits of free software and open source solutions.
