Unit AI: AI Players frequently spam explosives with no concern for themselves. #340
I recognise the AI is one of the major things that needs work, but placing this here as it's probably wise to fix soonish...
Currently, hostile organisations with individuals armed with explosives will fire those weapons at will, with no concern for their own safety or those around them. This often leads to almost "machine gun" firing of Marsec Heavy missiles and the destruction of whole squads and the enemy firing the weapon as well as all of its allies around the firefight.
Such suicidal behaviour WAS in vanilla, but only if the unit firing the explosive was already injured and had already attempted to move away from the reach of the blast; only then would it risk firing its weapon at X-COM. Additionally, presence of other allied units that may be within the blast also stopped them from firing (unless the unit was injured/bleeding)...
In the screenshot below a CoS cultist fires a Marsec Heavy HE Missile at point blank range, this kills the three X-COM agents who he's firing at, and all his fellow CoS Cultists and himself are killed in the blast and following ammunition blasts (note multiple explosions) ending the mission in X-COM's favour - a particularly dumb move...
