Since Openelec 2.0 beta (1 and 3) I can't play the avi files recorded with my photo camera. Other file formats are OK.
I can play them with version 1.0.2.

Hardware: Foxconn a3500 fusion.

Here you can't. Upload somewhere and paste download link.

Here is an example. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19429640/Openelec/DSCF3158.AVI
When I start playback, I see a black screen with a small x-cross in the middle (like a mouse pointer) and then it switches back to the previous screen.

this is a duplicate, this looks to be the same issue as posted here by me:- #476

its due to a bug in openelec around mjpg encoded video files, not sure if its container specified but the files i have are also in avi container format, a link to a sample is also given in my post.

would love to see this one fixed as i got around 300 of these, all family videos taken using canon ixus camerma in video mode.

as stated in my post above this issue was NOT present in previous openelec nightly's which included eden final.

Hello,

After installing beta 7 (and beta 6) I have the same problem as described above, but now the system hangs and a forced reboot is required. Can you please reopen this issue ?

Thanks.

Same here. Xtreamer build 1.95.7 (6)
AVIs captured with my canon camera cause the system to hang until restarted.
Other AVIs play flawlessly.
Just let me know if I can provide further info on this.

I am getting the same issue on OpenELEC 2.0 (Beta 7) - 1.95.7 - i386
I did try Beta 4 previously and had the same issue, so switched back to stable.

MKV HD videos play 100% perfectly, but all my AVI videos crash and I get the white X and getting kicked back to the home screen.
