While I'm working out what planet I was on for #7770, here's another in a continuing series...No change to functionality required, just a little in the graphics department.

Don't care whether 0 breakdowns is green or grey...

Hmm. So you're right, it is pretty easy to implement, but... I'm not sure how I feel about it:

And quadsize UI, for good measure:

Might want to swap orange & cream around, but you get the general idea. Like I said, not sure how I feel about it...

I think it's interesting but has a few problems:

  • UI controls shouldn't rely on colour, especially red/green, as it's inaccessible for colour blind users; unfortunately that ship sailed with profit markers etc so may not apply
  • red/green UI controls have a state/action conflict: does the red represent that there is a problem to fix, or that clicking the button is dangerous?
  • it's visually intrusive, which might be the purpose (to get attention), but it doesn't look good

There have been a couple of discussions about changing the destination bar, #7772, #3958

I wonder if there's room for a reworked destination bar, which could show speed, and number of breakdowns, and stop/start status and destination?

Thanks for this. There's been no activity on this for some time, and as it stands, it doesn't look likely that it will go any further. I'm closing it as we try to keep the issue count low for OpenTTD, it helps us focus on things that are important and fun. Feel free to discuss in irc or request re-opening if you disagree. Thanks for contributing!
