accelerate bootup rpi3 fixed ip

imarin2 edited this page Feb 22, 2017 · 1 revision

Introduction

If you want to use just a wired fixed IP you can speed up your bootup time by around 30 seconds

How ?

  1. SSH to your raspberry pi.
  2. Edit /etc/network/interfaces so that it looks like this:

source-directory /etc/network/interfaces.d

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
allow-hotplug eth0
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.0.9
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.0.1

# allow-hotplug wlan0
# auto wlan0
# iface wlan0 inet dhcp
# wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

# allow-hotplug wlan1
# iface wlan1 inet manual
# wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

Note: Do not forget to put your actual fixed IP address and gateway
