Auto-updater for Windows #92
Comments

Yes, it could be useful, at least showing information about new releases. |

Should version be read from github? Something like http://developer.github.com/v3/repos/releases/ |

@mispp, maybe, too early to decide. ;-) |

FYI: There were a lot of angry comments in the Opera Desktop Blog when they added something similar to the new Opera so make sure you have options to control how it works :) |

Well, for me the new update feature of new Opera is nice. I mean, it's nice it ignore the UAC settings (new Opera will update, no matter of current UAC settings), but it's not fine when these updates are "must have" and can't disable it (because of, for example, slow network), you know :P |

@opticyclic, updates behind the scenes are extremely annoying, if we would support them at all then for sure they would be disabled by default.

It would be nice to have an auto-updater for Windows (like Chrome): updater should automatically handle updated releases with option to select if testing versions (nightly, beta) should be installed, or just stable ones.
