Sportal is a personal project created by Patrick McSweeny of Toledo, Ohio. The idea originated during Startup Weekend Toledo 2012 and the main pain point it tries to solve is to create a way for sports tournament organizers to find teams to recruit to join tournaments.
This project was created using Rails 3.2 and has since been updated to 4.2. Some of the Ruby Gems used on this project include Gecodoer, Sorcery, Simple Form, State Machine and the Stripe Gem. GMaps.js was incorporated to build dynamic Google Maps on the fly. Twitter Bootstrap was used to style forms and the HTML was built without using templates.
I have run this application locally on my Linux machine and have successfully deployed it to Heroku, but I have not tried it in other environments.
This project mainly grew out of my personal interest in learning Ruby on Rails. I am not looking for collaborators at the moment but feel free to poke around and feedback is appreciated.
