In electronics issue PaxInstruments/t400-electronics#86 (comment) the two 2x3 pin headers will likely be moved to locations such that they can be accessed through a hole in the back of the enclosure. This is a nice-to-have feature and should not compromise any other features.

Here is the proposed punchout areas.

A closeup with dimensions and location. The other punchout would be mirrored on the other side.

@starno I'm still syncing files, so I can't view this in Solidworks just yet. In the first image it looks like there are two depressions visible from the outside of the enclosure. Am I seeing this right?

The back of the enclosure in those areas should be flush with the rest of the case. The punchouts should only be visible from the inside. Am I missing something?

Theres a thin section cut out from either side, so that it can be removed from either side. The non thin strip is flush everywhere else.

If its completely flush on the back and has thin strip on the inside only, there will probably be sink marks on the back as a result anyway. Im not sure the best way to make this yet, I need to find some existing real life examples

I don't like having a seam showing on the back. Maybe knockout isn't the right word for what I'd like here. I would basically like a guide to show where to cut with a razor. It doesn't need to be a panel that pops out when hit. You can think of it more as a deboss documenting where to cut. The back should be flush throughout. I don't want to directly invite people to hack the device. It should be more of a pleasant surprise for the adventurous who open the enclosure.

I'd rather have something like this. I could see how there may fill problem if the channel is too deep. If it's too deep, we can always cut away material. Thoughts?

Sounds reasonable to me. Files are updated to have a cut on one side. Im moving this thread to enclosure 0.2 since we will likely need to update the geometry moving forward.

That makes sense to me too.

The cutouts are in Enclosure version 0.9, so we should close this. PaxInstruments/t400-electronics#97 is still open though.
