The perl bugtron contains a bug at the following url:

http://bugs.perl.org/admin/perlbug.cgi?req=bid&bid=19990805.004&bid=19990807.006&bid=19990809.001&bid=19990809.007&bid=19990809.008&bid=19990810.001&bid=19990811.004&bid=19990818.003&bid=19990820.001&bid=19990820.003&bid=19990820.006&bid=19990820.008&bid=19990821.002&bid=19990822.001&bid=19990822.003&bid=19990824.002&bid=19990825.005&bid=19990825.006&bid=19990826.005&bid=19990826.006&bid=19990831.002&bid=19990901.002&bid=19990906.001&bid=19990907.001&bid=19990909.002&range=25765&format=h

This is probably also displayed on the non admin side but I have
not checked. The bug is that a bugid is incorrectly rendered as follows:

--cut--
line 212.'">19990811.004
--cut--

Instead of being rendered as
--cut--
19990811.004
--cut--

I don't see it on either the admin, or user, sides with Netscape 4.7 and
Perlbug 2.23

Neither in my local version or live

I'm running WinNT, and IE 5. I have a 2mb screenshot I could mail
you, but I don't have any image processing software on the windows
side to get it smaller or into a sensible format.

Sounds like one of those IE/Netscape issues...

I'll have a poke around.

This was one a resulting effect of the JavaScript bug that I sent you a
patch for some time ago, iirc; are you still running unpatched 2.23? You
might try applying that patch and see if it goes away. On my Internet
Explorer 5 here, searching for bugid 19990811.044 results in a javascript
error and then a mangled bugid displayed - the same as shown above. If that
doesn't fix it, perhaps " and > will have to be encoded to " and >
inside the '...' quotes to prevent the browsers from causing problems.

Ah, I've seen JS errors before, but didn't realise the javascript
problem could cause actually mangled html output. Thanks for the tip.

Michael.

We're running 2.23 live and I've got 2.26 running here, waiting for a chance

I think 2.23 is unpatched, and 2.26 is patched.
