π petergrecian.co.uk Β Β·Β βοΈ Beautiful Clouds on YouTube
I build things at the intersection of science, art, and hardware β mostly in Python, often on a fleet of Raspberry Pis, and increasingly across AWS, GCP, and Cloudflare. A lot of my work is astrophotography and scientific imaging: pointing cheap cameras at the sky and turning long stacks of raw frames into measurements and pretty pictures. The rest is a mix of Android apps for my own daily life, generative music, web infrastructure, and the odd home-automation experiment.
I like projects that are equal parts engineering and curiosity, and I'm always happy to collaborate β on science or art projects, Python tooling, hardware/Pi/sensor work, or anything in the overlap. If something here looks interesting, or you spot a reference to a repo you can't see, open an issue or reach out via my GitHub profile β I'm glad to share more.
- astro β Scientific image processing for a fleet of Pi-mounted astronomy cameras: long-baseline accumulation, plate-solving, FITS workflows, derotation, per-night web deliverables.
- photography β Camera & image-processing projects: stereoscopic video from a single moving camera (Cloud Batch rendered), sky time-lapse, and star-trail stacking.
- splay β Keyboard-driven still-image viewer with FITS support, hot-pixel masks, and a plugin architecture. A descendant of a tool I wrote at MPC in 1996 for SGI IRIX.
- Beautiful Clouds (YouTube) β A Raspberry Pi camera points at the sky all day and every evening auto-publishes a full-day cloud time-lapse: hourly and whole-day videos, timestamp burn-in, a randomly chosen backing track. The capture-and-render pipeline currently lives in my private monorepo β ask me if you'd like to see it (extracting it into a standalone beautifulclouds repo is on my list).
- mywebsite β My personal site (www.petergrecian.co.uk) served entirely from AWS Lambda behind API Gateway, fronted by Cloudflare β no static host, no server.
- home-automation β Raspberry Pi home automation: network/device monitoring, sensors, and Google Home integrations.
- rcr β Recent Classical Recordings: finds modern, well-recorded performances on YouTube Music.
- audiolab β Audio analysis & measurement tool (oscilloscope, FFT, spectrogram, response curves) using CM106 USB devices, on Pi or laptop.
- tersetransporttimes β A deliberately minimal, zero-interaction commute app that uses GPS to show only the specific buses and trains I actually catch.
These aren't public (yet β some are works in progress, some just personal), but I'm happy to talk about any of them. Open an issue or get in touch.
