See PistonDevelopers/conrod#321 (comment)

This a public domain single-header source for loading TrueType fonts and render them as aliased bitmaps.

Maybe we should split this up a bit. One library for parsing TrueType font formats, one library for rasterization etc.

I've worked on this for a few days now, and it seems stb_truetype is a lot easier to port because of less use of the C pre-prosessor. I don't yet know whether it will be easy to port the logic, but most the of the code seems relatively straight forward. There is still a lot of work to do though, and I expect that there will be bugs sneaking in while porting. I think it is worth an attempt though, just to see what alternatives we have.
