The term 'plant growth and developmental stage(s)' PO:0009012
is defined as: The succession of changes leading from the zygote to the mature plant- that is only the sporophytic phase. Needs to encompass both phases. Also, it should not be plural.

Suggested new name: 'plant growth and developmental stage or phase'
proposed new def'n: A stage or phase that is part of a plant life cycle

I am changing this to priority 5 as we decided not to deal with it for this release, but I am leaving it open.

Proposed new definition: Slightly modified from DWS's suggestion below:

The succession of changes leading from a zygote or meiospore to a mature plant.

Also promoting to priority 8 for tomorrow's discussion

At the POC meeting on 10-18-11, we agreed to merge plant structure development stage (PO:0007021) into plant growth and development stage (PO:0009012) and use plant structure development stage as the primary name. This will be the root term.

Proposed def., plant structure development stage: A stage in the life of a plant structure during which the plant structure undergoes developmental processes.(POC:curators).

comment: Refers to GO:0032502 (developmental process), including growth, differentiation, and senescence. This term is used to describe developmental processes in any plant structure, including plant parts such as leaves and flowers, or a whole plant.

Why confuse stage and phase. Both phases have a development stage
