Welcome to the wiki! We will document the design process of the Audiopoli Protone speakers here. But first the specifications:
- SB acoustics SB26ADC-C000-4 1" dome tweeter in a Somasonus waveguide
- SB acoustics SB17MFC35-4 6" woofer
- ICEpower 50ASX2SE Class D power amplifier
- Custom active analog crossover

The design process can be split into four parts:
- The preliminary prototyping
- Trying to figure out what elements work together
- Digital crossover phase
- Using a digital crossover (minidsp 2x4) to apply an easily modifiable crossover
- Based on ground-plane measurements
- Anechoic chamber
- Getting a proper frequency response from the speakers
- Measurement included horizontal and vertical off-axis responses in far-field, as well as on-axis in near-field.
- Design of the analog crossover
- Based on the anechoic chamber measurements and simulated response.
- First revision shows that the simulations are accurate. Subjective listening tests also verify the results.
