  • Program: dnsdist
  • Issue type: Feature request

Short description

My dnsdist graphs for backend latency are showing weird square graphs for backends that are marked Down.

Environment

  • Software version: 1.1.0 beta
  • Software source: 1.1.0~beta1-1pdns.jessie (repo.powerdns.com)

Steps to reproduce

Configure dnsdist to send graphs, or monitor its stats using custom tech

  1. Mark a server as Down (getServer(x):setDown())
  2. Wait a little, keep gathering metrics,
  3. Display the metrics in a dashboard.

Expected behaviour

I'd like to see the latency to be null, 0 or something not showing.

Actual behaviour

I see (on average) high latency values that are static though the period that the backend was marked as Down.

Other information

Lieter said to file an issue.

Usecase

Prettier charts

Description

I'd like clear view of my latencies without being disturbed by the high (noisy) lines for Down backends. (they were, after all, marked down for a reason :-)
