As a suggestion: It would be nice if the first seconds of the next song would be cached before the end of the current song. Having a slow connection right now, there is a gap of silence between each song change.

You’d have to prefetch the next playlist too and I don’t see how this
could be done nicely without having non-blocking API requests (which we
don’t have right now and won’t get unless you volunteer).

What about delaying the initial playback (buffering it)? Also, is there any way to increase the buffer size in the settings? I'm not sure if pianobar uses a cache or buffer at all while playing but I'm getting a lot of skips these days and I'm not sure if it's related to slow network speeds (I doubt it), or something else. My laptop is fairly new.

Please do not post unrelated issues (“I'm getting a lot of skips these
days”) to closed bug reports. Thanks.

(There is no config settings for the buffer size and playback is handled
by ffmpeg in the latest version, which should resolve most issues.)
