I think we can consider having a range dependency hashbrown = ">=0.9, <0.12" ?

Note the new MSRV:

The minimum Rust version has been bumped to 1.49.0

It's actually compatible with Rust 1.38.0 hence the green CI, we just can't make sure it will stay so in future 0.11.x releases.

I've pushed a commit to use a range dependency (and force hashbrown 0.9.1 in MSRV CI). Assuming CI is green, I think this is good to merge.
