KDE fresh install is slow and missing task bar on first boot

Qubes OS version (e.g., R3.1):

R3.2-rc1

Description:

first boot: checked all the boxes except "use netvm for usb" and "do
nothing". everything VERY SLOW. user logs in, no task bar. something wrong
with kde. can only see qubes vm manager. waited 15 minutes (this is a good
idea). switched to a different tty (ctrl+alt+f2) and rebooted.

second boot: kde looks normal. no other problem detected related to
earlier kde issue. this is very good news.

This issue is being closed because:

• Qubes OS 3.2 recently reached end-of-life (EOL).
