Currently, closing the lid of a laptop while Qubes OS is being installed will cause the system to go into S3 sleep. This, along with all other power saving measures, should be disabled while Qubes OS is being installed.

To clarify, when I say "all power saving measures," I mean things like "sleep after X minutes," not things like CPU C-states.

This actually would have helped me back when I had graphics problems: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/qubes-users/xfWFGZxEqrY/URJ6ZuYGBgAJ

I remember having to sit there moving the mouse through the whole install so I could debug from a full system w/ whatever tools I want instead of just the installer.

Potentially something like:

xset s off
setterm -powersave off
setterm -powerdown 0
setterm -blank 0

may be sufficient?

The desktop environment may or may not have its own display blanking /
power savings mechanisms.
