Qubes OS version R3.2:

Affected TemplateVMs fedora-23:

Hey,

i want to install Tails with permanent Drive but Tails need a USB-Stick for this.
When Qubes is installated under a USB-Stick is not possible to catch the hole USB-Controller for direct access to USB-Sticks etc. (is also a BIG problem under a Macbook Pro because the Wifi is not working and it's not possible to catch a USB-Ethernet for internet when i run Qubes from USB-Stick)

So for the first Problem i think this is a good project to simulate an USB-Stick for some features (e. g. Tails installation with permanet drive) and use a virtual usb-controler and virtual-usb-stick under a hvm
https://sourceforge.net/projects/usb-vhci/

What is the best way to install this under dom0 (https://sourceforge.net/projects/usb-vhci/)?

Can you try rephrasing this sentence, please? I don't understand what you mean.

When Qubes is installed on an USB-Stick and run from it, then the usb-controller is used for the main-system of Qube/dom0 s ;) and then is no good idea to catch the hole usb-controller to a vm or hvm ;) because you need the controller for the running main-system from qubes/dom0

and this is the problem under a notebook without dvd-drive (like a macbook pro retina) when you run there qubes from an usb-stick.
Because:

  • the wifi (bcm4360) is not working.
  • the alternative like a usb-to-ethernet or a other usb-wifi-stick is also not working because you need to work in an vm that you catch the usb-controller to the vm and this is the problem from above
and then you have no change to update you system to get internet (chicken - egg - problem)

this a a other problem for a other thread ;)
