qubes-pub

  • Run im-chooser in a VM
  • Icon appears in KDE system tray

Broken tray icons in KDE (an architectural change mostly breaking X11 protocol for tray icons) was one of the reasons why we've chosen to have Xfce in dom0 by default... Somehow related #2042.

@marmarek

:)

I used Xfce for a short while but found it clunky and a general nightmare for getting stuff done.
I love KDE.

I've noticed that if I click on the icon (either left or right click) the proper icon shows up uncorrupted so this may not be much of a problem after all. I would just have to click on the icon when it gets into a corrupted state.

After updates since this ticket was created, I am now finding that icons from some of my VMs don't even show up in my KDE system tray widget on the desktop. I now see blank spaces where my network manager and im-chooser icons would have been. I can click on them and interact with them as normal, but there is some guesswork/trial & error involved in locating the (invisible) icon I need. Not a huge problem but definitely an annoying one.
