Can't copy files from a windows7 HVM to other VMs when joining another domain. #3673

Qubes OS version:

  • Qubes release 4.0 (R4.0-rc4)

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  • installing windows7 iso (StandaloneVM)
  • joining another domain
  • installing qubes-windows-tools

Expected behavior:

  • I can copy files from the windows7 HVM to other VMs and the other way around.

Actual behavior:

  • I can't copy files from the windows7 HVM to other VMs.

General notes:

  • Copying files from other VMs to the windows7 HVM works.
  • I identified that copying files from the windows7 HVM to other VMs works when I'm not joining another domain.

I have checked the qrexec-agent logs and identified that all of them contain the following notifications:

  • for example the qrexec-log "qrexec-agent-20180308-120409-1720"
    [20180308.120409.828-1796-E] OpsConnect: Open read pipe failed with error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.
    [20180308.120409.828-1796-E] connect_to_daemon: connect to server failed with error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.
    [20180308.120410.857-1796-E] XcOpen: XenIface handle: 0000000000000148
    [20180308.120411.091-1796-E] InterceptRPCRequest: CreateFile failed with error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.
    [20180308.120411.091-1796-E] InterceptRPCRequest: Failed to open service 'qubes.SetMonitorLayout' configuration file (C:\Program Files\Invisible Things Lab\Qubes Tools\qubes-rpc\qubes.SetMonitorLayout)
    [20180308.120411.091-1796-E] HandleExecCommon: InterceptRPCRequest failed
    [20180308.120517.610-2680-E] QpsReaderThread: ReadFile failed with error 109: The pipe was closed.
    [20180308.120517.610-2680-W] QpsReaderThread: [1] read failed
    [20180308.120517.610-2684-W] QpsWriterThread: [1] client is disconnecting, exiting
