windows 7 launchers don't work #3863

Qubes OS version:

R4.0

Affected component(s):

windows 7

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Import windows 7 VM from R3.2
  2. Add an application to the desktop menu, for example Programs-Internet_Explorer.
  3. From desktop menu, start the app.

Expected behavior:

VM starts and internet explorer runs.

Actual behavior:

VM starts but internet explorer doesn't run.

General notes:

The command in the Qubes-generated launcher

qvm-run -q -a --service -- win-7 qubes.StartApp+Programs-Internet_Explorer

doesn't work in a dom0 terminal either.

Workaround is to use the R3.2 style invocation

qvm-run win-7 '"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"'
