Qubes OS version:

  • Qubes 4.0 current
  • Thinkpad P70 with Skylake i7
  • Kernel Flags: i915.alpha_support=1 rd.blacklist.drivers=nouveau nouveau.modeset=0
  • Bios:
  • --USB UEFI BIOS Support: Enabled
  • --UEFI/Legacy Boot: UEFI Only
  • --Secure Boot: Disabled

Affected component(s):

External Monitor
DisplayPort
HDMI

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  • Fresh Install of Qubes 4.0rc4, applied qubes updates to get 4.0rc5/4.0 Stable
  • Plug in External Monitor via HDMI or MiniDP
  • Qubes Display manager launches
  • No monitors are available except built-in are available on Display Manager
  • xrandr shows only built-in monitor

Also fails if monitor is plugged in before boot - Does not matter.

Expected behavior:

Previously: 4.0rc4 installed
-Plug in External Monitor via HDMI or MiniDP
-XFCE Display manager launches and external displays are configurable
-Displays show up in Display Manager, xrandr and arandr

Actual behavior:

External Monitors are not recognized in:
-Display Manager
-arandr
-xrandr

@andrewdavidwong Is there anything else I can do to help in getting this bug resolved?

It's been about 6 weeks and this issue is really killing my workflow.

Happy to post any logs or try any other solutions. Thank!

Hi,
have you tried without disabling 'nouveau' module? Did it work properly on some fresh 4.0 installation before doing updates?
