... otherwise the cloned Windows AppVms will always be complaining about lack of activation, as the activation status (for a given hardware) must be stored on the root fs somewhere, and so it is not possible to activate the children VMs based on the same template persistently if the MACs are different.
It is an open question whether the clones Windows AppVMs do require another licenses or not (after all they are instances of the very same installation of Windows), but that should be left up to the user to decide if the license they have allows for that or not. In any case, using different MACs for cloned, template-based AppVMs doesn't seem to make any sense.
