Tales of Xillia 2 crashes if too many DLC is installed #4091
Comments
|
are all of those DLC from one region? how is there so many |
|
Yes, they're all from 1 region. |
|
it crashes if you have more then 16 DLC at once, and it applies to X1 as well, together the games have well over 100 DLC folders. |

Didn't know there was an existing issue ticket open for this problem (thanks to Auri for bringing it to my notice). Can confirm that this is an issue with RPCS3 and is still present in latest master. Haven't tested ToX2 but I assume it's the same issue causing crashes in both games. To ensure that this issue was legitimate, I decided to purchase ToX1 along with 17 DLCs. This was my result:
So this title does indeed crash if more than 16 DLCs are installed. Attaching logs of ToX1 with 17 DLCs (crashing) and 16 DLCs (normal). |

Just so confusion doesn't happen in the future, my initial analysis of 16/17 DLC's being the exact number was only mostly correct. for whatever reason, im guessing size so i will has size in this theory, each DLC has a diffrent size, and when the size overflows it crashes. most DLC's have the same size, but some DLC's have a little bit more, letting you only install 15 DLC's before a crash. none the less, 16/17 seems to be mostly golden numbers. also during my tests, i tried a good variety of DLC, no specific DLC causes the crash, it really is just "to much dlc" that crashes (altho as some have more 'size' or whatever, some are more likly to cause a crash then others, but ALL off the dlc can normally be loaded) this applies to X1 and X2, and is almost assuradly the exact same crash, sense the games are rather unique as far as PS3 games go, because they have cross comparable DLC. The DLC from each game, can be used in its own game, or the other game. Also, no, cross compatible DLC both does not crash, and the crash still occurs without any dlc from the other title. Finally, Xillia1 and 2 each have to unlock their title screen by progressing past a certain point in the game. in both games, the crash still occurs, regardless if you have the title screen unlocked or not. What is NOT a bug however, is trying to new game plus into a crash. On a real PS3, i forget the exact conditions, but if you take a internet save and try to NG+, it crashes. This is because, i think, atleast for the xillia games, NG+ flag is tied to a achievement of beating the game, and not actually having a clear save of beating the game. beating the game save lets you select NG+, but you can only actually do it if you have the achievement for beating the game, trying to do so without it just crashes even on a real PS3. Note: the reason i believe this is the case, is because this is exactly why NG+ crashes happen in vesperia PS3, you need the clear achievement in vesperia, there could be a different but similar reason in xillia, but the end point is its not a bug and intended by the devs, so not a rpcs3 problem. But someone should probably fix DLC bugs, so other games with a similar problem don't crash. |
|
I can confirm that the bug is still present. |
|
Just checked again, this bug is still present in the latest version. |

Automatically closed by fixing PR, if it's still an issue ping for reopening |

#7945 definitely fixed the issue, I have 68 DLCs activated for Tales of Xillia (BLES01815) with no issues now, thanks @elad335 @CookiePLMonster |

The problem reappears in the latest version |
This game loads DLCs from the prequel and itself, which seems to work fine.
However, if there's too many DLCs active, the game just crashes when checking for DLC.
(A total of 124 DLC folders)
The game crashes if you have 85 or more active at the same time
