Android Things Setup Utility

This command line tool will minimize the points of friction with getting started with Android Things. It will:

  1. help flash the device with a default image of Android Things and optionally set up Wi-Fi or
  2. set up Wi-Fi on an existing Android Things device

Once you have your development board set up, you can open Android Studio, browse and try out sample projects or directly browse our sample projects here: https://developer.android.com/things/sdk/samples.html

Getting Started

These instructions will help you obtain run the tool on your computer and help set up your device.

Pre-requisites

This script will work on Mac, Windows or Linux and can help set up the following boards:

If flashing an SD card for Raspberry Pi 3, you will also need to run the tool as Administrator.

Usage

To use the tool on Mac OS and Linux, you can run the command in the directory that you have downloaded and unzipped the tool:

$ ./android-things-setup-utility

If you are on Windows, you can double click on the executable file or right click to run the executable.
