When I press "Mixer" in the volume plugin nothing happens. From what I understood from a post on google groups it should start and external mixer, but it doesn't.

My computer:
MSI Wind U-100
Linux Mint 12
Razor-Qt 0.50(did "purge razorqt" before updating to new version)
Using xfwm4 as window manager

I'm guessing you don't have it installed? What external mixer do you have set? (Right click -> configure)

pavucontrol . I'm guessing I have the default Gnome mixer installed, which I don't know what that might be.

Open it and run top or xwininfo or something. Either way, if it's on pavucontrol, you need pavucontrol installed.

We should probably give a warning if it can't be found.

I'm reopening as feature request

Volume plugin should warn if external mixer is not found. In the settings, the input should be red (I believe QtCreator has a similar looking thing going on), and when actually launching it it should pop up a warning:

%s not found. Install it, or set the mixer to an existing application.

Ideally we should to have the internall mixer.

If not yet done.... (need to follow the code again), I will add those proposed indications when we cannot find/launch the mixer application.

I personally still aim for a razor internal mixer app, but for now the plugin needs to be very solid first, which would iron out most of issues related to a real mixer application.

We could just hide it if the target is blank or doesn't exist.
