When designing the Windows tile, the user has 3 options:

  • Use the master picture as is
  • Use a saturated version of the master picture
  • Use a Windows-specific picture.

The initial idea was to let the user design a picture especially for Windows and let him use it as is. However, he might want to just use another picture (not necessarily designed for Windows). In this situation, it makes sense to combine a Windows-specific picture and the saturated option.

The choices somehow become:

  • Picture :
    • Use the master picture
    • Use a specific picture
  • Effect :
    • No effect, use the picture as is
    • Saturated version

In addition, when the master picture is not transparent, the UI should indicate to the user that the saturated option exists, to encourage him to submit a Windows-specific picture (... with transparent regions).
