I believe there should be a restriction of the number of icons for people who have no license at all. Tab icons are already limited yto 5 for unpaid and 12 for Standard users. Since there are a lot more folders in the tree this limitation will likely be higher, but I can definitely see that this feature may either be forbidden in the future (by Thunderbird) or cause significant extra work to be able to function in future versions of Thunderbird. Therefore adding some sort of license requirements would be only fair.
I am considering a limit of 20 icons for unlicensed users, maybe 50 for standard users (or no limit at all for them), obviously no restrictions for QuickFolders Pro users. Since people are using the folder tree context menu they were able to bypass the license check so far.

Since this is hard to enforce without degrading performance for users with > 200 folders, here is a test version that fixes the immediate problem: QuickFolders-mx-5.7.1pre2.zip
To install this prerelease, download the zip file, don't unpack it and drag it into your Thunderbird Add-ons Manager.
