Shortcut Key configured for quickMove not recognised

The keyboard shortcut configured in the Pro Licenses tab in QF settings is ignored. TB 133.0, QF and Provider for Google Calendar the only Add-ons active.

I have a similar issue, but it happens intermittently. TB 128.6.0, QF v6.9 and this issue only started happening with the update that auto-installed today.

The Quick Move keyboard shortcut sometimes only works on the 2nd or 3rd try.

When I open an email, then close it I am back in the Inbox with the email highlighted. I hit the shortcut combination (Shift+M) and nothing happens. I immediately try the shortcut again and the quick move destination folder selection appears and the function runs normally.

After this bug occurs, next email I quick move will often work on the 1st try. I can't quite figure out a pattern as to why the shortcut is or is not recognized.

Maybe we can convert these shortcuts to using the API shortcut instead. At the moment it is a global keyboard listener, which theoretically should get all the key strokes as long as your focus is either on the list of emails or in the preview area.

As of this morning I had one more user reporting the issue, who AFAIK is not using Remote Desktop:

OS: Windows 10 Pro
Thunderbird : 128.6.0esr (64 bit)
QuickFolders: 6.9

I cannot reproduce it (yet) - currently I am not sure whether this is caused by the recent Thunderbird update (128.6.0esr) oder possible a regression caused by changes in QuickFolders 6.9 - could somebody please install the previous version of QuickFolders to see whether it resolves the issue, this will make troubleshooting so much easier!

I will post some details on how to generate a debug log specifically tailored to this issue later today.

Also helpful would be to know:

• what kind of view is used in Thunderbird. if it is single message or 3pane mode and whether it is classic vertical etc. Also are the email shown as a list or in the new "card view"
• what part of the screen has focus? (what has been done beforehand) can the behavior be influenced by clicking on an email (thread list has focus) or into a previewed email (preview has focus).
• Note that if the folder tree has focus, it will trigger the move mechanism but for folders (includes a prompt for safety)
• does the quickJump shortcut (Shift+J) work?

Here are my details;

• I am using the ClassicView, with FolderPane, MessageListHeader and MessagePane enabled. The messages are shown in TableView.
• Before pressing the Shift-M, I always select the message(s) on the TableView. So the focus is on the messages.
• I rearly use Shift-J, so my response would not be helpful. But I tried it for a few minutes, and it worked half the time. Just like Shift-M.

do you normally open the email in a tab or in a dedicated window? That's an important distinction for this case.

Email normally goes into a dedicated window.

could somebody please install the previous version of QuickFolders to see whether it resolves the issue, this will make troubleshooting so much easier!

I've uninstalled 6.9 and installed 6.8.2. I've done 10 Quick moves in a row using keyboard shortcuts without issue. I moved different messages from different email accounts and different destination folders.

Under 6.9 I would have gotten an error at least once during this time. I'm reasonably confident in saying that the problem appears to be specifically in 6.9.

BTW, do you need my config file?

As I currently cannot reproduce the problem, below is a test version with additional output in the error console:

you can install it by downloading the zip file, then drag the zip file into Thunderbird Add-ons Manager.

To create a debug log you can open the error console (CTRL+Shift+J) and configure as described here. As the very minimum, enable errors, warnings and logs:

As additional debug switches, click on the cogwheel beside Debug mode in QF advanced settings:

extensions.quickfolders.debug.interface.findFolder  = true
extensions.quickfolders.debug.quickMove = true

To capture the debug log, just before you start the search, reset the log first:

You can also try what happens if you leave SHIFT down and hit M a second time?

I can confirm the same behavior with TB 128.5.0esr and last QF release.
If I install QF 6.8.2, everything functions perfectly.

I've installed 6.9.1pre10 and have been using it for the past hour. I've Quick moved 20+ messages without encountering the issue. I'll keep an eye out for the bug and will copy the log if/when I encounter it.

The bug started happening 5 minutes after I posted that. I've emailed the log to the address shown in the Support tab of QuickFolders.
