alt-1/2/3 shortcuts working sporadically; sometimes takes mutliple tries

Hi!

For a long while the alt-1, alt-2 etc. shortcuts to change folder weren't working. In recent version so of TB/quickfolders they started working again, which was awesome, but after recent updates they are a little touchy:

Most of the time they work, but sometimes they are ignored for a few keypresses (most often one, but sometimes it takes three or four tries to make them start working again.)

Meaning I hit "alt-2" and nothing happens. I tap it a few more times and after three or four taps, then it works.

I haven't found a clear pattern yet, but if I do I will report.

this is actually interesting because we also got this recent bug regarding quickMove shortcuts:

#526 - apparently some users have this when they try repeatedly using Shift+M to move emails. I did add some changes around searching in the box, but this happens after the user starts typing in the Search box.

They use the same global key listener as a starting point.

Also, in my experience, after closing a single message tab and returning to a folder, the thread list should have keyboard focus. this means the current email is highlighted in blue and you can use the CURSOR DOWN and CURSOR UP keys to go to different emails? Or is the focus somewhere else?

have you got tb keys lite installed (because Thunderbird itself snatches that ALT+# shortcuts otherwise to switch between spaces.

Yes, when a message pane is closed, focus goes back to the thread list. I usually read messages in the lower pane below the thread list. When a message tab is opened, alt-# has no effect.

Whether or not the thread list is focused doesn't seem to matter in terms of this issue.

I do have tbkeys-lite installed, yeah. Compose key bindings are just {} and main key bindings are:

I think the "2" gets lost, try holding ALT and pushing "2" twice? this was some behavior I had seen here in Windows.

That's what I did in the third one: ALT, then 1 and release, then 1 and release, then release ALT. Sometimes I hold ALT and then tap e.g. 3 like four times before it registers. I agree, when it's not working there is just nothing coming to the error console, and then on the stroke that works it shows up.

ok, so the key strokes get completely swallowed. Does it behave better with 6.8.1 (the previous version)? I am still not sure whether it would be caused by changes of QF or the latest version of Thunderbird.

Also, do you use the quickMove or quickJump features? There were some changes here for optimization but they only happen when you type in the folder search box... If you didn't use the feature in the session where you find keystrokes are missing it would be good to know as it narrows down the amount of changed code I need to look at.

No quickMove or quickJump (I'm using nostalgy for similar features... though I note that this issue happens with all plugins except QF disabled.)

6.8.1 result: I will post with results... I'm currently struggling to make the issue happen at all for some reason. It's sporadic.

ok, so 6.9 somehow has a habit of "eating up" keystrokes, even if you never use quickMove? this may be a valuable pointer where to not look. One major change was that I turned the main folder iterator (that ise used to search through all folders to find something matching) into a "generator" = which is a function that can be stopped in mid-work, in order to allow people to keep typing during a folder name search (just like nostalgy). I don't quite understand how this affect you when you don't use the feature but I will find out...

I'm still trying 6.8.1 and so far it hasn't happened, but will let you know. And yeah, at least in 6.9 it seems to eat them up sometimes.

Re: quickMove, I assume I am not using it -- I don't have a pro license and on the "licenses" tab of the options it has "quickMove" selected but greyed out, so I assume it is not active (and I don't do Shift-M to move messages.)
