I just noticed that reply templates in the main toolbar don't start composer when clicked:

... and the user has to click on the reply button itself afterwards in order to bring up composer with these templates. It does work however in the header bar above the mail preview window:

Test version with quick fix:
smartTemplate-fx-3.8.1pre10.zip

To install, as always download the zip file and then drag it into Add-ons Manager.

Fixed in 3.9 - released on 09/12/2021
