  • widget for sharing race results on pages (single) or as list (year/sportid/name) [see #1183]
  • Distances for yearly comparison for every sport?
  • Export race results as csv, json..
  • Dataset: Show raceResult information
  • Search: Search for activities with race results (done with 83c5cff)
  • What about relay events? Additional checkbox?
  • Add field for age group (in which age group was I in the event)
    • add year of birth to account settings (this may be used to auto calculate the age group, even though not every event uses the same groups)
  • Show multiple participations of an event
  • "How often did I do distance x" (not preconfigured distances)
  • Add team name/club to race result
    • Maybe add team race result
  • Edit/add form should show some details of activity (gps distance, time, date, ...)
  • show quantiles for placements
  • Highlight races in the databrowser again
  • Age grade performance #1855

Question: why did you change name to "competition/s" in the app? IMO "race/s" was a better word for these. And you even call this whole part of code "Race results" ;) ?

Because it was decision in the end - Competition is a more general word for all kind of sport
I will just fix two places where it's still called "race result" for the end user

The german translation of 'race' is in general somehow a 'competitive run', i.e. our understanding of 'race' is that it's somehow limited to running (and a few other types of sport, I guess). I just had a look at my Oxford's and it seems that I was wrong:

race
[1] a competition between people, animals, vehicles, etc. to see which one is the faster or fastest

competition
[2] an event in which people compete with each other to find out who is the best at sth

Based on that, race could be fine for swimming etc. as well, but I guess it does not hurt to use the more general variant (especially if race is explained by the word competition) - as long as there isn't any native speaker that tells us, that race is nearly always used for endurance competitions (sic!).

(And concerning the inconsistency of the internal names and the output strings: CompetitionResult doesn't sound as nice as RaceResult - what a beautiful alliteration - and we where too lazy to change it everywhere.)

Rename competition to race result
Okay, we talked to a native speaker. Both versions work fine, but he favors 'race results', so we go with it. #1820

@laufhannes I think a team scoring would be really great - or what do you think?

I don't like the idea and I won't put any effort in it. There are tons of other things that are much more important.

There's not even one single team place, as there's a general ranking as well as an age ranking for teams, maybe even a mixed ranking in addition. And the race table is already very full.

And if we say yes to a team ranking, we probably have to say yes to championship ranking as well. (And there may be other rankings as well - and I honestly say: Who cares?)
