Enterprise 0.4.1 is an incremental update to build upon the progress made in the previous release. This release addresses two issues: firstly, the applesetos message that was reported by some users no longer appears, and the email address in the GRUB fall-back screen was updated to match what is listed on the SevenBits website.

Behind the scenes, this release refactored the codebase in an attempt to make it more modular. Further improvements will come in future releases.

The version of the GRUB source code used in this release is the same as in the last release and can be found here.

Enterprise 0.4.0 is the next release of the Enterprise UEFI boot manager. It features mainly bug fixes and improvements. For specific changes, you can look at the commit logs. Most importantly, the GRUB boot screen is now cleaner as the debug printouts have been removed.

The size of GRUB has been slimmed down by excluding unnecessary modules that we don't need for Enterprise. It is now down to about 3 MB in size, a rather good improvement.

Beta versions of version 0.4.0 have shipped in version 3.3 of Mac Linux USB Loader, however, the final version will be shipping in version 3.4, which will be released very shortly.

Feel free to report any bugs, etc.

Enterprise 0.3.2 contains small fixes to memory allocation and error handling which help to improve the stability of the software and prevent memory leaks. On systems with poor implementations of EFI or with low memory, these changes may prevent firmware crashes and other problems. It additionally contains a few small tweaks to the advanced boot settings menu.

Enterprise 0.3.2 is the version shipping in version 3.2 of Mac Linux USB Loader.

The version of GRUB included with this release was not modified from version 0.3.0. Pursuant to the GPL, the source code can be downloaded here.

Enterprise 0.3.1 is primarily a bug-fix release which addresses several issues which were present in version 0.3.0, primarily an error in which the path to the kernel contained within the desired ISO file would not be properly read from the configuration file, resulting in either the kernel path becoming truncated or garbage data being appended to the end. Both cases resulted in a USB drive that could not be booted.

This is Enterprise 0.3.0, the latest release of Enterprise. This release — a long time in the making — features a large number of changes from the previous version and contains many bug fixes and improvements. Here is a partial list:

  • The full resolution of the screen is now used, taking up the entire screen
  • An About menu was added, accessed by pressing Escape at the main menu
  • The user can now type his own kernel parameters on the Advanced Options menu
  • Various bug fixes and improvements to configuration file parsing

As a stable release of Enterprise has not yet been released, future breaking changes could occur at any time. Users are urged to be wary of this. Before you file any bugs, please read the official bug report requirements — frivolous reports waste everyone's time. Thank you!

Edit: the Enterprise files were updated on 23 July 2015 due to a packaging error. The Enterprise release itself has not changed.

Hi there, everyone.

I am pleased to announce that the time has come for the next consumer preview of Enterprise v0.2.1. As before, this is technically still in beta, however, this time I consider it stable enough to boot Ubuntu and Ubuntu derivatives.

This beta release is largely compatible with the previous beta release, however, a few modifications have been made which you should know about:

  • The iso parameter in Enterprise configuration files now requires relative, not absolute paths to the desired ISO file. This is to facilitate passing the parameter into GRUB. You will need to make adjustments in your configuration files.
  • This release fixes #15, which was plaguing users who tried to use the advanced boot options panel.
  • Some changes were made internally to GRUB which may affect its ability to boot versions of Ubuntu and distributions based off of Ubuntu that are older than 14.10. I do not know if Ubuntu 14.04 is affected and would appreciate it if someone could test this. Ubuntu versions that are older than one year probably will not work anymore, so if you need to boot them, please use version 0.1.1 of Enterprise.

Lastly, I know that many of you are trying to boot Kali and Tails but are experiencing issues with the previous beta regarding the operating system not booting properly. Please test and see if this release fixes your problems. If not, please let me know. Fingers crossed!

Beta testers & other interested parties: Ubuntu support is out-of-the-box. If you want to boot Kali or Tails, please email me personally for instructions until I can write a wiki article and add the relevant code to Mac Linux USB Loader. Thanks!

This release is in an early stage, hence the beta status. As a stable release has not yet been released, future breaking changes could occur at any time. Users are urged to be wary of this. Before you file any bugs, please read the official bug report requirements - don't waste my time with frivolous reports, as I'm very busy. Thank you!

Note: this release is not compatible with previous releases of Enterprise. For a rundown of everything new, please see the Enterprise webpage.

This is an enhanced, preview version of Enterprise, much better than before. Included is:

  • Multiple distribution support - you can now have multiple ISO files, and Enterprise will ask you at boot time which one you would like to load
  • The ability to pass additional options to the kernel that aren't hard-coded into Enterprise. This is useful for distributions like Tails and Kali, which much have certain settings to boot that other Debian-based distributions do not need
  • Tails and Kali should work, but see the proviso below
  • A better verification script to check the Enterprise configuration file for users who prefer manual setup (download the source code to get it)
  • Bug fixes and improvements, including a fix for #9, the dreaded "booting in blind mode" error
