README.md

This is a fork of c4milo's node-webkit-agent. Added timeline and console. Changed other stuff like module exports and coding style.

node-webkit-agent

This module is an implementation of the Chrome Remote Debugging Protocol.

WIP

Features

This module allows you to remotely debug and profile your node.js applications.

  • Debugging (WIP)
  • Heap and CPU profiling
  • Console
  • Timeline

Usage

var agent = require('webkit-devtools-agent');
agent.start({ host: '127.0.0.1', port: '9222' });

var http = require('http');
http.createServer(function (req, res) {
  res.writeHead(200, {'Content-Type': 'text/plain'});
  res.end('Hello World\n');
}).listen(8080, '127.0.0.1');

console.log('[%s] Server running at http://127.0.0.1:8080/', process.pid);

Connecting to the agent

Using your browser, go to http://trac.webkit.org/export/head/trunk/Source/WebCore/inspector/front-end/inspector.html?ws=localhost:9222. It's important to make sure your browser supports websockets, otherwise the front-end won't be able to connect to the node agent whatsoever.
